In the biological sense, an animal, or human is one who has fully grown. The term "adult" is often applied to humans to mean moral and social concepts. In contrast to a non-adult or "minor" an legal adult is a person who is at the point of majority. They are considered to be autonomous, self-sufficient and responsible. A legal adult can be referred to as a major. There is a general belief that the minimum age that a person can legally become an adult is 18. But, it can be different based on rights under the law and countries and also on the psychological state.

The early adulthood stage is the one of physical maturity is at the time we attain the age of 20 to 40 years older. Our height and weight, however, may slightly grow. The physical abilities of our bodies are at their peak in young adulthood. This is reflected in muscle strength and reflex speed, as well as sensitivities, and functioning of the heart.
